Sarah I loved attending Thomas’s classes He took time to explain and is able to aim each session at lots of differing levels. The classes always ran on time and with a warm, friendly environment. Real value for money for the individual attention he so easily gives even in a full class, without holding anyone back or making beginners feel like they need to struggle to keep up. Highly recommend
Lynn I met Thomas O’Flaherty in 2016, as a participant at his beginners’ dance classes at my local jazz club. I found him to be a patient, good-natured instructor keen to share his enthusiasm for dance. During this year one of my customers, Autism West Midlands, approached me to put on a Brazil-themed celebration for the residents of their facility in Selly Park. In addition to my percussion workshop they wanted to add a dance and movement experience for the residents. I invited Thomas to facilitate this event with me. We were told by staff that most of the residents have high physical support needs and could not be expected to move in a co-ordinated manner using both upper and lower body movements. Thomas had no previous experience working with groups of people who have autism. Thomas immediately established a good rapport with the residents and staff alike. His approach was open and friendly, and he was able to present instructions at a basic level which made sense to the participants. By the end of the day people were fully engaged, having a lot of fun and indeed working upper and lower body areas simultaneously, to the surprise of their staff. Since then I have been pleased to work together with Thomas on 5 more themed days at Autism West Midlands. I have no hesitation in recommending Thomas to organisations looking for a knowledgeable dance teacher who in addition has a willingness to break down the barriers of ability and get the best out participants, whatever skill level they present themselves with.
Vania Thomas has been a great teacher. Very dedicated, professional and perspicacious. His rhythm and musical knowledge are on point and I fully recommend.
Paula I attended a introduction to Latin Music and movement workshop along with teenagers from my family. I was feeling vulnerable due to chronic poor health. Thomas was welcoming and inclusive to all. We enjoyed the history and instruments tutorial, followed by dancing. He gave us skills and encouragement. We left his workshop feeling like dancers. Thomas's classes gave me a safe space to learn and grow in confidence and body strength and a dancing community to be part of. His classes have been crucial to my recovery back to health
Parve Thomas took me quickly me from a Salsa Virgin to a confident Salsa dancer. In his patient, engaging manner the basics and fundamentals of salsa dancing were clearly explained and with the accompanying salsa/Latin music it enabled me to progress easily in a structured and methodical manner. I made great friends for life through the classes and had loads of fun in the socials afterwards. Everyone was so welcoming. I learned to appreciate and “hear” the music and learned natural body movement. My confidence as a social dancer and generally has skyrocketed. Several years on I am a salsa junky and still apply all the stuff Thomas taught me. I just wish I has started classes several years earlier.. Dance is such great fun. Parveen
Hillary Salsa and Tango Classes with Thomas O’Flaherty I really enjoyed my time in Thomas O’Flaherty’s Salsa and Tango dance classes. He is passionate about dance, often giving really interesting snippets of history on the origins of the dances. I am in a position to state that he is incredibly patient, ensuring that everyone ‘gets it’ before moving on. He will also take time out to help the ‘uncoordinated’ master a particular (or tricky) step. He has a really warm personality that resonates throughout the class making the whole experience so invigorating that you don’t realise that you are exercising. I also really enjoyed the social dancing session, where I was able to put what I had learned in the studio into practice. It was initially challenging, but my confidence grew and found that I had learned a lot without realising it. Taking these classes with Thomas was certainly one of my better decisions and I aim to return when my health improves.
Trudy Thomas is a very warm and welcoming tutor with lots of patients and knowledge in dance brilliant sense of humour you would not feel alone if you went alone

Lucy Thomas is a professional and fun dance teacher. He has a qualification to teach dance and applies excellent pedagogical knowledge in the way he structures his lessons over time and uses informal assessment of his students to pitch lessons at the right level. He is a fantastic dancer and it is a privilege to be able to dance with him as a student in his class. Highly recommended.
Biks Thomas is a fantastic instructor, a great role model & genuine good guy. I enjoy his classes & made to feel at ease in the beginner sessions. He has also supported me on a number of Salsa Charity events for Cure Leukaemia by teaching Salsa to the masses at my fundraising events. Anyone looking for a talented, knowledgeable & friendly instructor, Thomas is your man
Lisa I plucked up the courage to join Salsa classes held via Thomas O’Flaherty after seeing an ad on social media 2 years ago now and so glad that I did! Thomas puts you at ease right from the off by commencing with an informal group introduction with the other participants. Whether you are an expert, or a complete novice like I was, Thomas makes sure that he delivers his skill with confidence and ease and covers all the basic steps including sound knowledge and advice, whilst remaining calm and professional . I found it really easy to learn under his guidance. After attending other classes, I would highly recommend Thomas as a formidable instructor.
Diane Thomas has energy, professionalism and most importantly is a brilliant teacher. I ran a Salsa Weekender in Jersey some years ago and Thomas taught Cuban Salsa. I would recommend Thomas without hesitation. Diane Porritt, Jersey

Richard Thomas is a great teacher of salsa and would highly recommend his classes. He taught me salsa many years ago in Coventry and I've seen him around still motivated and passionate about his subject for which he's the expert!
Carol I gives me great pleasure to not just recommend, but highly recommend Thomas as a Salsa teacher. I have been attending his classes once a week for seven weeks now. He is very patient and knows how to get his students to gel together. Its easy to see that dance in many different styles is his passion.
Thomas Oflaherty has run workshops for our organisation two years running at our Refugee Week event at MAC Birmingham. It was a drop in Salsa Dance Workshop and was very popular. The participants that Thomas worked with had a range of ages and cultural backgrounds, and some spoke little English. I know from the feedback that I received from particiants, staff and volunteers who attended the workshops that they were engaging and enjoyable. Thomas worked really well with people of all ages and abilities and got them Salsa dancing! We would be very happy to have him back again next year for our Refugee Week Festival. "Thomas OFlahery is a professional dance teacher. Thank you for sending us such a decent dance instructor." Sonia Deol BBC Asian Network
We found the salsa session to be well structured and very informative. Even those of who considered ourselves as having ?two left feet? managed to get into the rhythm. It was great fun and a good way to relax after the end of a busy day of meetings. Sara NEC GROUP
As part of learning at work week the NEC group provides its employees with bite size training sessions, the sessions include work related and non work related topics. This year we ran a taster session on Salsa which was very well received, the feedback from the group was fantastic opening peoples ideas to keeping fit and releasing stress. I would recommend the services provided by Spirit Salsa, Thomas was a fantastic tutor. Dave NEC GROUP
The workshop was a great success, with everyone who took part thoroughly enjoying themselves. Everyone was made to feel part of it and able to get involved, regardless of their experience / skills in salsa (many of the group with little or no previous experience!) You were able to keep energy and enthusiasm up, which kept the atmosphere (and banter!) positive, and so a very successful and enjoyable evening! Many Thanks Sarah Caldwell Ernst & Young LLP Birmingham
Hello Thomas?- the feedback from the session was fantastic, and people seemed to be doing salsa moves all over the place for the rest of the day!?
...it was a very popular event in terms of people choosing it and they seemed to love it. Michele Dr Michele Schweisfurth Centre for International Education and Research School of Education University of Birmingham
I booked spirit Salsa for a community event; they turned up on time, and were very professional. They fully engaged with all of the participants including some that were quite shy. By the end of the session they had the whole room up and dancing everybody had a great time and had learned some Salsa moves and I would not hesitate to book them again.
